This radio interview came about after a Open Source producer read my blog entry on Afro-Netizen complaining about the way the mainstream media continually chooses to pathologize Black people, particularly young Black men. In Erik Eckholm's disturbing and and all-too-familiar analysis of the modern-day "Negro problem" in his New York Times article published on March 20, 2006.
This show, hosted by Christopher Lydon, featured to two other guests: Professors Orlando Patterson and Ronald Mincy, both Black scholars at Harvard and Columbia, respectively. I participated during the last 20-minute segment of this hour-long radio show.
